And there were roses

And there were roses

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

A fragrant life well lived...

"

That first tender cry

Fresh sound in a fresh world

Covered in blood and wrapped in love

And there were roses

Pink fragrance of new life…

Sweet sixteen smiles

First kiss blushes

Movies and magic and starry skies

And there were roses

Yellow blooms in the hues of joy…

She wore white-laced summer

And he wore her kisses on his lips

Like a badge of honor

And there were roses

Like alabaster flames of devotion…

Her smile lingered

Amidst well-woven lines of life

His hand firmly held in hers

And there were roses

50 crimson blooms…

A tender peace lays soft

Her hands draped across her chest

Teardrops like pearls strewn down

And there were roses

Scented of heaven and angel wings…

This by far my favorite...I must hunt for the words to express my awe...oh..how You have bewitched me with this piece...I bow before Your talent, my friend...there is sweetness even in the last stanza that speaks of death...oh death.. sweetly strewn with fragile, fragrant roses...just another journey she had to make...oh how perfectly you match the hues of the roses to each stage...incredible...I am speechless...I would proudly write this on my walls...so beautiful...so beautiful...you've outdone yourself,Craig...simply wow...

Something lovely yet melancholy in this. At first read I though of loves thru life... but now maybe about the birth of a baby girl and the stages thru her life from birth to love to death.... and there were roses! Love you always. you know how to bring out the best in stringed pearls of words on a line of poetry.

ohh how you paint this hard life..how you tag the pain along the long drive..
yes for every season we wear special faces and put all smiles..
just to beatify ,and say hey look how happy we are
we even put roses in all occasions calling for all to ..come to live
its a wonderful life ,this ours..only its graded and everything is accounted for
and everything has a timing ..sadly when you know all this in advance ..the colors fades ,and all the surprises are gone..i am not going to be fooled again
once i know the end ,i will leave the movie even if its half through
the end is never that pleasing when you already can guess what then
this was so beautiful ,only to me its very sad..this stereotyped life
who could agree to this ..to live a life already lived a thousand times before
lovely write ..

This is just so beautiful...celebrating life, death, memories.
You captured this so breathtakingly, wove them in delicate
silk.

A beautiful life story you have told here. The repitition of the title throughout the poem is very nice.
It's a bit of a coincident really that I read this now- I was in a florist this afternoon with a friend buying roses and while they payed I was reading a poster about the meaning of the colours and numbers of roses...

A really lovely poem.

I enjoyed reading this, well written lines, and i could really feel the essence of roses as i read this. Everybody knows roses are those beautiful flowers that can be used to portray a romantic atmosphere or to just portray love. I could really feel those poetic romantic moments in your poem. Moments like and he wore her kisses on his lips, moments like this when mixed with the very powerful essence of flowers in illustration, give a poem with a strength way beyond good but better placed at excellent. Each word i read in this piece moved me closer to the coast of love. And by the time i finished this it was like i was swimming in the coast of love. This piece shows tenderness, much romantic presence, and much everything on account of love. Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece.
