Beyond the glass...

Beyond the glass...

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

I will believe, come what may...

"

How dark the rain that stained the glass like blood,

Each drop crawling in a slow, steady stream.

An endless river, a torrential cursing flood,

Washing all joyous life away, it would seem.

Somehow beyond the glass my eyes perceived

A world in living movement and color now.

How my heart truly ached to believe,

What this painted canvass might allow.

Now my fingers cling to the cold, clear pane;

Out there is a wondrous world to pass.

My eyes, my darkened eyes remain,

May they ever behold what is beyond the glass...

And what is beyond the glass is mountainous. I didn't see this as a deep and involved piece Craig, I think it rolls beautifully and is self explanatory. I don't like to have to work too hard to find meaning in a poem. You express what most would see behind a pane of glass dripping with rain...it can be comforting, depressing...or inspirational as it was here...

Enjoyed much :-)

Question my friend?...I sense a dicotomy of purpose and expression between...How dark the rain that stained the glass like blood,

Each drop crawling in a slow, steady stream.
viseral obscurities on the surface making.
Only to increase into rivers obfiscating and obliterating
cursing the very scene

"and the pace changes so quickly to rivers and torrential cursing floods"

Washing all joyous life away, it would seem.
I wonder if your first analogy is finished...the blood has meaning ..so quickly washed away in a torrent....visceral analogies need to be expounded on IMHO...another stanza perhaps....?Just asking...

Words of hope, that someday we may make our way out into the world beyond the glass....wonderfully written.

Craig, the picture you used is wonderful. Some see it as dark and dreary, i find it comforting and lovely. Rain comforts me ...
I love your author's note.
Your poem is as always beautifully written full of images for the mind and inspirational .. never give up .. very enjoyable.

This is so dark, but beautiful, and not hopeless, its like its dark but theres a moon - the longing you describe means this has a purpose, its not wallowing. The words you used were placed perfectly and as for the rythm of it, it works so well. Theres a cleverness and a certainty to the way you put it together. The rhyme didn't annoy me... weird huh? Because it was very strict. Must be because it was seamlessly put together, and not forced. Thanks for posting, Craig.

That cold awful place being on the other side of the glass/window looking in where it is warm and wonderful. The world/life you can't have. Awesome write, I like this.

Somewhere beyond the glass my eyes preceived
A world in living movement and color now.
How my heart truely ached to believe,
What this painted canvass may allow.

That is my favorete stanza! Great poem as always, Craig
