just one feather

just one feather

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

for those who long for more than what we see…

"

Scanning the sky for angel wings

and other wispy sacred things

to see beyond what life can bring

or cry and for my days I cling…

More than dust or caustic wind

more than fragile bones to mend

such dreams my heart longs to transcend

from frosted feelings I ascend…

In nineteen worlds beyond compare

I sense ten thousand hallowed stairs

to take me far beyond despair

astride a weeping silver mare…

One tranquil day I wish to see

beyond fragmented tapestries

in a world beyond the golden tree

just one feather…

I once careved a willowy wispy feather from a wood sliver ..them wood burned the details...such a concept is what your poem reminds me of....very thought provoking..

Whose to say that angel wings/ are not more gossamer, ghostly things/ that shelter moments spent together/without the aid of pinion feathers... (smiling) Lovely write Craig.

very nice!! I love the traditional feel to this one! the classic four beat kept consistent throughout the quatrains - it gives it a great rhythm and flow!! and there are wonderful images painted too

"I sense ten thousand hallowed stairs
to take me far beyond despair
astride a weeping silver mare…" - I enjoyed!!

Wow, Craig!!! This is really a beautiful piece! Well-crafted: The tone, the theme, the rhythm---WOW!!! I love the rhyme. They were not forced. Poetic indeed! Keep writing!
