Parenthood

That first day when you had smiled because of me...
That first day when you had lifted me up in the air...
Or the instant when you noticed me smile...
Oh you should have written it down...
I for one do remember when I saw the pride behind that smile
Or the pure ecstasy of your care...
Or the pain when you had to deny me something I longed for...
I should have written them down...
Oh fleeting memory...if only you had power to control my mind
I would have written, drawn and redrawn every moment I spent
With those beautiful beings called parents...
Thankfully this memory...I have written it down!
