The little ant

The little ant

A Poem by Chandradhish Ghosh

The little ant started walking…

It stayed behind the others

They all seemed to be busy looking for something

It wasn’t sure what was so special about that elusive thing?

It gave up on the search and drifted

It went a little distance and looked

Looked at his clan…

They were all busy…

Immaculately, even in their business

They maintained a straight line

It was tough…it thought…and then wandered…

The little ant saw…
What the others didn’t

The little ant heard…
What the others didn’t

The little ant felt…
What the others didn’t

None of what it saw

Resembled the huge anthill he lived in

There was no pattern here…

There was randomness everywhere

There were so many huge structures around
They did not smell of soil

It looked back again…

It couldn’t find his clan…

There was no ant anywhere...

It went ahead and did not think of returning

The little ant died many times but eventually…

The little ant lived.

Thank you so much Laurie
Whimsical and charming tale in your poetry, we're not truly alive when we're not true to ourselves...
