Courage

Courage

A Poem by C. Monique Langston
"

I am using this poem to express my frustration with my people's tendency to be content with racism or not even recognize it until it becomes personal. This is a call for courage.

"
colorful and blind to ignorance
inclined to speak loudly in small places
we whisper in the crowd

justice knows not the sunlight
warmth can never touch the muddy waters
dreams do oblige the stint

in desperation --
tensions build and the cords snap
life outweighs its enemies

So profound and such an important call.

justice knows not the sunlight ...

Every kind of racism, prejudice and judgment keeps the sunlight from shining through. Well penned.
