Dear cancer,

I know you’re in me

Cancer can hurt your body, but you can stop it from hurting your mind. It's incredible how humans can focus their thinking to dissociate from pain. I respect how your poem has a hopeful message that cancer can be overcome.

Love this ! People are not defined by things they cannot control. I can feel that many who suffer from grave illnesses can certainly relate, and if not relate, maybe this poem can give a bit of hope. Beautiful.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! This is the first time I've heard such a message! It's so original & the tones of defiant strength are so awesome & refreshing! This is the attitude it takes to beat cancer, so I've heard. If I got the diagnosis, this is exactly how I would feel, too. I especially love the way you've woven in details of a life that's not ready to let go . . . the narrator hasn't danced her last dance yet! This is a great poem. Very amazingly written, Cherry. Tell me you don't have cancer.
The way you have presented your point in this poem alludes to the audacity of the person suffering from cancer, but that person has not turned despondent, instead, she is willing to fight cancer. Saying that you are one step ahead of cancer is a great thought and expresses how fearless you are and the fact that you do not wish to evade death, rather you wish to live life. Keep writing.
