children

children

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

a poem about what children bring to a family

"

children

children

they bring

neon rings

of vitality

to our family life

they make us sing

silly dragon songs

of joy and sunshine

their piles and piles

of colorful and

musical toys bring

smiles to my lips

their whimsical

music and wavy

dance makes me

want to shake my hips

their starry dreams

and lazy wishes makes

me float away with them

 on their wooden pirate ships

to soar away and be

the hero like Peter Pan

their childish ways

and prankster tricks

remind me of my

prior friendships at school

children bring gusts

and gales of the freshest

salty wind to my

stale and

stagnant

life

Clapping!!! I have five beautiful children of my own and they bring a new world to me each day.

They just tire me out, may I send them all to you?
There toys left where they may, lay me out, in plaster some days
their songs out of tune, grind me down, their howls of unfair play, and screams of "Tommy did it not me" to fragile china broken plate, please take them away from me, but not for to long, I love them you see

Oh, you mustn't EVER say that dragon songs are silly! You never know when a dragon might be listening! ;o) Children are our past and our future and the very thing that we should strive to be. For when we are our past and our future...the now won't seem so important anymore.

Excellent poem and thanks for adding it to my contest. I am putting it in the book right now.
