Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?

Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A poem about a past love.

"

“Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?”

In my mind, I just can’t

Seem to leave you behind.

When we parted ways,

To me you weren’t kind.

Constantly your comments

About me were snide.

We were best friends,

Seeing each other

For 18 years,

In you I thought I

Could always rely.

Even if you fell in

Love with another;

In me, you could still confide.

In work, in play, in love

And in just about everything,

My trust in others is

Now contrived.

That I’m still

In love with you,

Is the central point

That I constantly

Try to hide.

For so many years

Our life was so complete,

Filled with the sweetest memories.

If you tell me you don’t recall,

I’d know it was just a lie.

Forever

To one another

We’ll always be tied.

I see your eyes gaze at me

When you see me

All others can see

The fire that’s still alive.

I bet each night we

Dream of each other

When we close our eyes.

Do I ever cross your mind

When you think of

The Life You

Left behind?

Wow, really loved this. Agree with chloe, this definitely could be a song. Really moving, and....wistful or something like that. I like the simultanious confidence and frailty it portrays and can definitely identify with that. well done again lady! xx

Your question in the poem is the common question most of ask ourselves. Do the person we spend years with remember us? A strong poem. We get close to so few in a life. I believe we take and leave a part of us with the people we have loved. A excellent poem.

I liked the lyrics and the idea of the song, but it think it osunds better as a poem, but also I don't know the beat so it makes it kind of hard to know what it would sound like as a song! It Just doesnt seem to Flow like a song would!

I think this was a good read too. I think I can relate as well because I think that some of my ex-boyfriends do that with me. I liked the flow of the poem. Thanks for sharing. :)

I love the consistency of the font and stanza breaks, it makes it easier for me to comprehend.

Sad but descriptive. If a broken heart could talk, I'm sure your words would convey just what it means to say. Nicely done.

This is a little bittersweet, remembering a past love, wondering if they still think of you and you are of them. This is really well written.
