A Place To Be Genuine And True

A Place To Be Genuine And True

A Poem by Marie Harrison

A fantasy place that could happen in life.

A Place To Be Genuine And True

Look up high in the sky that’s swirled with downy

Puffs of pink, blue and apricot cotton candy.

Down below where the free and the happy roam,

Their golden roads stretch as far as the eye can see.

Where cars never hit dogs and wars are games

Played in the bright sparkling aqua blue swimming pools.

Where there are no rules or

Limits to how much fun you can have

In days, minutes or seconds.

A place where laughter is

Encouraged and frowns are frowned upon.

A place where your imagination

Can soar as high as it wants to

There are no limits to conform to,

But boredom never sets in either.

A place where you can hold

Someone’s hand without committing a sin

And even grin as much as

You wish to, or at

Least until you turn blue.

It’s a place where you can be

Genuine and true without being rude

A place where black crude isn’t needed.

Maybe we can succeed by

Pretending that this place exists here,

That the seeds of truth and

Being genuine have already been planted.

I was thinking of a place that's a fantasy, but it could actually exist here, if that was our true goal.

I love the imagery of this. It paints a beautiful picture. Makes me wish this place was real so i could escape to it right now. This poem was really good but for me it was lacking something in flow and rhythm I think that if you could find something constant to put into each stanza like a rhyming line or same number of lines to a stanza or something like that it would make the poem that much better of course this poem is fine just the way it is if you decide to just leave it alone. Great job and keep writing.
Much Love,

I loved the flow in the first stanza and I think the whole poem should reflex that. The poem was good but with that change I think it could be better.

If only are dreams could come true or like you say if we made it our goal then it could exist.

I love how you compared the fantasy world to our world whilst describing it. It's more about the expressive freedom than the fun is also a good point. I've favourited it.
