Awaken Me

A Poem by Marie Harrison

my love for ballet dancing and playing the cello

Awaken Me

Deep chords

Of a solemn cello

Chiseling swiftly up

And down the scales

Stir raw emotions

Asleep in me

Gliding my feet

Back and forth

Beautiful, and the imagery was so real.

Enchantingly beautiful, musical, the dancer lifting on toes against the wooden floor

The superlatives have all been spent; and rightly so!

Try reading the third stanza with "Hard wood" in place of "The hardwoods". What do you think? To my ear it adds a percussive abruptness that is relevant to the thud of points, while providing a counterpoint to the sibilant swish, of "satin toes" "soar[ing]".

Beautifully written, and the message is perfectly straightforward. Now I want to listen to an orchestra.

The font reminds me of old English or Victorian...I'm not sure, but it is so appealing and rich! The poem is beautiful with a very light and soft edge to it. I like the style and presentation.

Love the font, a most beautiful poem.

"they cast their spell on my spirit. Loved it. Your poetry is like a breathing in a breath of fresh air.

And music and dance will see you hit those high notes in precise time keeping your legs kicking as your feet skip over hardwood floors. :0)
