You can feel it,

it's warmth radiant

You can't reach out and grab it, it's too far

but that doesn't stop you from trying

Without thought, you move toward it

Every step, another anticipation of how it must feel,

to hold it,

to have

Near you, it fills you with such sensation of delight,

Like your stomach was just opened up,

and a draft of cold air came rushing in

overcoming any deterring thought you once had

You move closer now,

your attraction to it stronger than anything before

Blindly you continue to it,

you believe in it,

Completely,

With all that you are

Your finger tips just about to graze it,

To feel it, for the first time,

all you've ever wanted,

it'd be in that moment,

you'd be happy at that moment

Your finger grazes it,

so sure it will feel as you imagined,

you don't realize how cold and dim it really is

soon it crumbles,

you and it both,

left with nothing but the shattered remains of all you've dreampt

all that you wished could be but never would

And so you lie there in your denial,

Broken,

not able to lift yourself up,

not wanting to,

Left to love what never was.
