Spitting Venom

Spitting Venom

A Poem by N. Hadley

"It'll get better," they say, "this
thing called life. You just got to
wait. Good thing comes to those
who wait."
I sigh and shrug and spit venom,
"I've been living my life in a waiting
room. Staring at my own two feet,
holding idle, banal conversation with
you other farts who are waiting too,
even if you don't realize it.
waiting, waiting, waiting, we're
always f*****g waiting
when will the nurse walk in, with
a bright smile on her face, and
apologize for all the waiting, and
say 'the doctor will see you now"?
"It'll get better," they say, "this
thing called life. You just got to
wait. Good things come to those
who wait."
I sigh and shrug and spit venom,
"Where is that f*****g nurse!"
"It'll get better," they say, "this
thing called -"
"Oh shut up."
