As He Digs

As He Digs

A Poem by clairekeown25

And you never did reply to that letter
But i knew you meant no offence
Years seperate words
Faded ink and tired tongue
A decade of foam spreads crystals over the coasts that part us
Each grain of sand a word lost between us
Words are unknown to you
Yours is the roar of the engine, the bark of the village dogs in salutation to their bearded companion,
the cries of the starling chicks as your hands break their fall,
the jingle of the news every evening at nine,

and yours is my heart
my hand
and my smile

Well here's a poem so different from your humerous prose. I read this one to my wife as we supped a glass of wine. As I read it I remembered the outdoor, stranger in me, in a foregn land killing snakes for the screaming local wives and then eating them (not the wives !). We both smiled at the truth. I mean to contact so many friends but I always mis the post or the point.
