The Web You Weave

The Web You Weave

A Poem by Independent

This web
Oh this twisted web you weave
Meant to deceive
I know better
Oh how I know better
Than to trust so openly
So willingly
But I took a risk to let you in
And with this I was greeted
No heeding
No warning
Just like the rest
You say you test
But we all strive to protect ourselves
If you didn't want me
You could tell me
Instead you let me hold my breathe
Till my face turns blue
And there's a pain in my chest
Wait
To save face
Let's both walk away
A fool and a joker
Oh what a pair
Caught in this web
Caught by surprise
Locked in those eyes
I strive to forget
Because my heart yearns to survive
