Passion's Burning

Passion's Burning

A Poem by Courtney L. Waugh

When I look in your eyes

I'm not sure what I see

When you look in my eyes

You know what you see

Love and passion unfolding, never ending

Love that runs deeper than any ocean or river.

Swelling like a balloon on a hot summers day

Beating a pulse, steady like a drum

Glistening tears well up in the corners

And then fall with every break or crack.

Warmth surrounding, just like a shield

Fire, burning from his touch.

Stronger everyday, the passion rising

Cold metal cools the fire-touched skin

Gentle whispers spoken with ne'er ending promises

Fire-touched skin floats down the path

Some moments fly by as a seed is passed

An ending is near as a new beginning fades into view

One that'll be as never ending as the morning dew.

Courtney L. Waugh
This is, I feel, one of the best pieces I've ever written. With that said, it is also one of the most personal.
