I'm Not Beautiful

A poem of what i think, and what iv'e been thinking for a while.

Im not beautiful, 

I know this is true,

He never says it,

The one i would love to hear it from doesn't say it, Him,

Others say it,

But being called ugly hurt, Really bad,

I've gotten called ugly to many times by too many people to believe a single persons "your beautiful",

He doesn't even say it any more. 

He used to, 

I used to love it,

I felt special,

I felt pretty,

Beautiful, 

And proud,

But now he stopped,

And i feel ugly,

I feel fat.

And self conscious around others. 

When he used to say it, 

That said it all,

"You look Beautiful today"

And when he doesn't say it,

...

His silence says it all :'(

This is a good and solid poem and its relevant to how many feel about themselves. It isn't fair that a person's self eesteem is so often tied to peers opinions. Each of us - you, me, EVERYONE - has worth and value. We all FEEL things - hurt, love, shame, pride, anger, frustration, sadness. We have a need to be accepted and to be a part of the world around us.

Life isn't just about beauty and hunks - it IS about who we are inside and how we act toward others. A person is only ugly when they act toward others in an intended hurtful way.

You spoke your mind very well and clearly.
