Silence

Silence

A Poem by Cody Jeremy Thompson
"

Man do I dislike having sleep problems

"
I hear you coming.
Each shushing step,
Deafens me further.

You stop at the door.
From your soundless knocking,
The birds flew away.
I see the snarl of your white tuneless teeth,
That scared the barking dogs.

Your claws covered in mute fur,
Cut through the whistling wind and dig into my throat.
Now you are the only one making sound.
To you, silence, now I am bound.

Was gonna expand on it but whatever I put in feels needless. Judge away.

Now that I know this in the context of having some sleep issue (insomnia maybe), I find this poem very relatable because I also have trouble sleeping well. Mainly because when I was a kid, I would get frequent nightmares. It sounds silly, but there are things that impact people in big ways.
