Panic

A description of my experience with anxiety attacks

Growing sounds

Loud chatter

Blaring lights; digging into my skull

Racing mind, filled with unwanted thoughts

Racing heart, Freezing limbs

My world goes quiet

I sit, oblivious to the roar around me

Nobody likes you

You only have friends out of pity

Why do you even try

My mind is invaded, leaving only feelings of loneliness and panic 

An ocean drags me under; the water leaving no escape

Why? Why? Why?

Thank you for this poem...and the understanding, empathy displayed towards those of us who deal with this.

I spent almost an entire year in seclusion because of this anxiety...Even going to the store was hard.

Having visitors was hard. Racing heart and Freezing limbs....
yes that ocean heaves waves at us...and we feel we are drowning.
