Meaning?

Meaning?

Ah, what is meaning?

The word itself saunters in so elusively

The shining hour you first hear or read it

Your thoughts  transform and will not

Go back to the playfullness of youth ever again

Drat! Now everything must have purpose-

Reason, connection to something greater than just you

Meaninglessness- a simple idea- has become

A crueler beast than any devil you can imagine

For you must exist with a meaning

Now that you know

There should be one

The soul is stirred and life

Life is becoming something that eludes

For there are mysteries to be solved and things

That seem to throw everthing else out of whack

Things that change the whole of your existance

Though they seemed so infinitesimally small

Until you found that there must be

Meaning to life

In your quiet thoughts, you see

And yet do not quite understand it

In fact do not understand it at all and

Realize that the entire meaning may

Be in the search itself

Oh, you do not know!

Ah, but if you knew the meaning,

Pray tell, what would you do with it?

Favorite above but this is seamless in its presentation and writing. Really really thoughtful piece of writing.

Constance, you inspired my mind to go somewhere it has not been...that, my friend, is what it is all about.
What would I do with it? I would lay back and I would pledge to stop punishing myself.

Read 'Mean' by me. I wrote it here first, but I noticed you had not read your mail and I decided to upload it as part of the project.

It really is amazing how a word or two can alter your views so much. I really know what you mean, too. I used to imagine all kinds of spectacular and wonderful places and creatures, but now I have to think about how they would be useful and their meaning, just like in the poem. I totally relate.

Good job!

Love how you took an idea which may seem simple but in reality is not. You portrayed the idea of "meaning" well. Makes me question myself and my purpose whatever the context may be.

"In your quiet thoughts, you see
And yet do not quite understand it"

A perfect interpretation of how one feels when faced with finding a reason for existing. Life is a simple, yet elusive, thing. Answers only bring more questions.

Great work!

It took me far too long to figure out what it was all about... but once I did I've never looked back. There truly is a grand order to all things. There are several clues in many of my pieces. Please feel free to poke around all you like.
And thank you again, you truly honor me too much!
