Chipped Lover

Chipped Lover

This is a previous version of Chipped Lover.

My chipped lover,

you hold that coffee cup up

to your cold lips and drink

after the words you flung

from them about how our lives

have grown old and brown,

like withered pages of a book,

and bring it back down,

it's edges chipped

from the times it

was thrown across the room

and you carry that chip

on your shoulders

like a great weight

bringing you down

and I see you, broken in bits

and scattered about the ground

Wow. I applaud you. Well done, dear one! I can certainly feel this, as it slammed against me too...
