a tribute to poetry

i had some time, and i felt like it so there it may not be very good, but it's got my soul in it,

the rushing binding words,

that slows down to a trickle

a stream of idea

that never runs dry.

 

Words so beautifully crafted,

yet never, ever outdated

they reach our innermost selves

they help fight personal hells.

 

poetry is like a dance

elegantly dressed ballroom debutante

waiting for a suitor,

to write her, serenade her, in colorful song

 

poetry fills my mind these nights

as i lie,

dead awake,

thinking about rhyme and verse,

 

that's how poems are made.

An amazing amazing tribute to writing and poetry! For those to whom writing poetry is as important as breathing air, I salute. It speaks out what I feel too, one of the many reasons I like it for. The comparison of poetry to a debutante is totally beautiful!

Nice tribute to poetry. You sell it a bit short, though, by citing a 'stream of idea.' - I'd think the plural (ideas) is called for at that point of the tribute. Good work. :-)
