Broken but not Battered

Broken but not Battered

A Poem by Creativegurl93
"

non-fiction, real events from my life.

"

There's holes in the walls

blood's dripping down your hand

I'm lying on the floor

trying not to go mad

We had every chance to move on

but you just couldn't let it go

Now my heart is full of lead

with your hands around my throat

We're suffocating here

I'm gasping for air

Holding my head under the surface

I found salvation there

You had your fingers on the trigger

with your guns up to my head

Tried to blow me away

but I finally rose from the dead

There's something sweet in desperation

you no longer know hesitation

Thoughts become clearer

Actions become stronger

Fear gave me strength

Anger gave me power

That look in your eyes

will never again make me cower

It's really powerful. A true story always generates more emotion in poetry in my opinion. It makes me feel really bad you had to go through it. The poem also doesn't give away the *true nature* of what happened but it is definitely felt.

I think it's beautiful, so well written and heartfelt. I could feel the emotion in every word.
