A String of Paper Hearts

A String of Paper Hearts

A Poem by Broken Hearts

hung across his wall,
A string of paper hearts
Each awaiting their turn;
Praying to not be the one to burn

For it went like this,
Everyday he took one
Along for a ride
Wishing it would be his bride,

But he had not yet
Found the one to be;
All of them insinuated to be cut out
With not a flaw throughout

This it bored him
Leaving him with nothing to uncover,
For it had been the same since the first day
The same things he could say,

And receive the same responses
It was all beginning to be too much
His prayers seemed unanswered,
While uniqueness was being censored

What he did not yet apprehend
Was the day that was nearing
He'd attain the last one
And perceive it would be done

The day is soon to come
When a string of paper hearts
Would come to termination
Delivering his condemnation
