UNBORN INNOCENCE

UNBORN INNOCENCE

A Poem by Just Nikki
"

Sonnet written for Extra Credit for R. Dossett at FCSS

"

I awoke to hear the news another,

That my cousin lost her second life made-

An unborn life taken from its mother,

But says God knows best; let your faith not fade!

I cry for her, my memories know best,

The feeling of loss to death holds my heart-

An unborn life itself bestowed a quest,

But asks God why we souls should fall apart?

I step outside to think and cry some more,

And see a Blue Jay chirping at a squirrel-

An unborn life stolen from its nest floor,

But what God leaves innocence to imperil?

This God shows me truth within good and bad,

That I may be hardened when times get sad.

This is good, existential and philosophical questions packaged into mellifluous words with soft rhymes. What more could a student of the noble art of poetry want? Good penning
