Sorrow, but no Regrets

Sorrow, but no Regrets

A Poem by Topaz

When you were born

I looked down onto your face

and smiled

because I had never

before seen such

a precious angel

And from that point

I was entrusted

with a sacred life

a gift

a responsibility

and hope for the future.

And while I have made

some mistakes

and have inadvertantly

maybe hurt you

It has been my lifes work

to rear you

to the best of my

ability.

I am sorry

if I have ever hurt you

sweet child of mine

I know that you

are nearly grown

shaped by your own

experiences--good or bad

and soon

to grow away from me.

It is not my intention

to make excuses

but to accept that I have

done my best with you

and that my best may not

make you happy.

NOTHING

that I do may be good enough

but I have tried

and

STILL

you are an inspiration to me.

You may need to live

to grow

to mature

before you are able

to read this poem

with understanding

and accept your

mother's plea

and proclaimation of her

everlasting love for you.

I love you with all my heart

So go Dear One

live your life

Taste and savor

all that it has to offer

the good with the bad

learn

to love

to hate

to mourn

to smile

to accept

that people might let you down

accidentally and on purpose

but that is in fact

a learning lesson from life

Well girlfriend, I'm at the same place you are> It's both scary and overwhelming, kinda exciting. It's going to be okay. You know that, right?
