Causal Desertion

Causal Desertion

A Poem by Phillip Francis

Let's not sleep tonight, pack a bag.
Let's take a ride.

We'll drive until the wheels fall off, then walk till our legs begin to shake.

We can head West. No place in particular.
Take in the beauty, hide from the unsavory characters.

Let's embrace this time together, shared experience.
The clock is running out.

Surrender ourselves to free will, break the chains of conformity.
Us is all the matters, neglect the dirty gaze, let memories engrave.

Leaving the bustle in our wake, abandon regrets, discard mistakes, only observe what's ahead.

Take my hand. Together, let's declare we own this night.
Abdone concern, it's in the past.

Let's ride this wagon straight toward the sun, smiles in sync, we've taken control.
Miles now frame our expressions.
