And As You Sleep

One person goes to sleep. Another clings to the memory.

And as you sleep,
you put to rest your worldly desires.

As you lull your consciousness
to the deep abyss of darkness and rest,
remember the paper that you forgot to finish.

As you close your eyes,
please remember me
while I deprive myself of such sleep
for I am mourning to the loss of our intimacy.

And as you sleep,
I am here at the door of your psyche,
hoping that one day you'd see me.

And let me in.

It has been quite a while since I wrote poetry. And this one seems like crap compared to the ones I have made earlier. But I think this one's good for a refresher. :D

I started to pay attention properly by the time I got to "remember the paper..." That's when this poem begins to say something. Of course, this is only one person's opinion. The last verse is probably the best of the poem. I'm one for lingering last lines, like the one you have there - I think they're very effective.

I can't comment on your previous work, because I haven't read any, but if you think you can do better, then that's a good sign.
