a dead tree in a forest of green

a dead tree in a forest of green

A Poem by TheAimlessWanderer
"

.

"
a dead tree in a forest of green
roots choked
full of mistrust
fighting the urge to come to dust
my roots dug deep into the ground
no life could be found
it all crumbled away
just as any other day
no reason to stay
no where to leave to
nowhere
nowhere
my rotted roots
no place for them to lay
no light for the weak
no day
no summers day
no winters moons
no day
only gray
eternal shade of the tall trees
a maze of haze
where all your useless pleas stay
from all those days wept waiting for a chance waiting for a change
but that day never came
always the same
it doesn't need to be raining for there to be no sun
the light in my eyes flickers dwindles
nothing left
nothing for my soul to kindle
reanimate from the ash
no sparks no fire
no desire
the dead tree gives nothing and takes nothing away
not winters moons nor even light of a day
that dead tree in the forest of green
even into the ground it couldn't creep away
the strangling vines that made it stay
suffocated it anyways
the tree now gives as it takes away
but it is still just same
a dead tree in a forest of green
no light for the weak
no day
only gray...

I see this as a sad story of a desperate tree that tries to be alive but fails - and in a bigger picture, tries to connect with the others, but no miracle takes place. Maybe all you need is to share the remaining life force with another gray tree in the forest - find them eagerly as they are not the mainstream, but they are there.

Sorry, Chris. Playing catch up with my reviewing. This is a powerful commentary on life and the different ways we feel as we travel through it. After a forest fire has burned through, new life appears in the ash. Good will come from bad. Good work.

The Aimless Wanderer - Perhaps "a dead tree in a forest of green" is not unlike some humans walking and dead in a forest world where others run and live. It takes a lot to make this world. Thanks for sharing. Namyh
