Eclipse Of Our Life

Eclipse Of Our Life

A Poem by Hebe
"

Human suffering - can we change things?

"

In a land that suffers from starvation

where white bones show laying in dry orange dust

vulnerable parched mouths, have scars of atrocities

where disease shrivels the carcass and ones radical opinions need no rendition

it only depicts grim and relentless human suffering

lets crush hope of all description!

We sit and watch in our vulgar prism

while in our garage we stuff our personal possessions

that are of no use to us anymore

seeped in our distorted forms of tradition

and inverted superficial western culture

our stellar image must portray propagandist materialistic wealth and happiness!

but reality depicts we are oceans away from any authenticity

just a slow strangulation in seaweed and plastic containers!

There is much wrong in this unequal world. Governments and big corporations must shoulder most of the blame, but we can all try to do our bit to help. Trouble is, there are so many greedy and uncaring people (and companies) on this planet of ours. Will there ever be real change? Looking at the famine and hardship in Africa alone, it is as if Band Aid (1984 music charity supergroup that raised millions of pounds/dollars) never even happened! Not just sad, but tragic!

Yes you are right. Money control the world. Human life had lost her value.
I audibly said "WHOA" at " slow strangulation in seaweed". Very creative and dripping in alliteration. The tone was rich in desolation and despair and I could feel like my mouth was parched after reading it. I loved this piece!

The good "stuff" lies within us, not in some dusty garage. Society does have some pretty messed up priorities. Great commentary on it with creative metaphors. Why can't we just be real for a change - things are so phony & artificial - sickening.

Now this is saying something! The differences between the "quality" of life in America versus other parts of the world is described unabashedly. Here we are, sticking all of our collected useless s**t in our garages while other people don't even have water to drink. Our selfies sure show happiness, don't they? It's difficult to think of the suffering in this world when we're busy getting likes and stuffing our faces with McDonalds. This is honest and brutal and I really like it.
