In My Dreams

In My Dreams

A Poem by Dana Ferguson

In my dreams we're scars,
our love behind bars.

Your eyes lost their smile,
you put on a show for awhile.

You come to me forced by loneliness,
but that love is here no more.

That house burned down long ago,
the ashes have blown to the shore.

Don't forget how we were a prison,
in this dream but also in life.

When I wake I'll see you no more,
but I know we'll both be alright.

Life seems to be a circus sometimes. We often end-up with something we don't like that much or in need. Great Wrote!

Life seems to happen and we are often the losers... so many "settle" for company.

Yes..there is far too many people settling. It's better taking time to get to know one's self.
Beautiful, poignant and heartfelt words, encompassing all of what it took to make and break a life and a love. From the ashen'd remains, you are reborn, older, wiser, but never forgetful of what you once had and how quickly it can change.
I can relate to this piece. Just when you think you have moved on, memories play in the darkest recesses of your mind. Whether we learn from these or become entangled in them sometimes feels like it's decided by a toss of a coin, but you end positively, with words of both going on, which is the best place to be in a bad situation.
Wonderfully captured.
