Hollow EyesA Poem by danielle_ineza tribute to my absent fatherI feel
you staring at me with hollow eyes. Daring
me to unleash all the frustration hidden beyond my recognition My
face, you refuse to recognize. A
whole half of me wasted by your absence Your side
of me hardly exists. You
made me, only to shame me I
feel you looking, your thoughts chasing Denial
granted to a heart that refuses to account for what it loses
Afather to a few, but me you fathered less. Taking
no interest in filling the hole you left, or the promises you never kept A
hero to only those of whom you chose to never neglect You
know I’m here, but the fear you choose has blinded you I have
seen you for you Out
of sight, so out of mind Purposeless
to stay distant from me, a coward to hide When
I will always feel you staring with your hollow eyes © 2011 danielle_inezAuthor's Note
