Reminiscent Days

Reminiscent Days

A Poem by DanielScanlon
"

An anniversary poem to my Mom and dad who have been married, like, forever!! Not always the best of times but stood the TEST of time!

"

Reminiscent Days

After all these years and troubles past

It can’t be said, it’s been all that bad

Having stood the test of time together

You are loved and appreciated, Mom and Dad

Having said that and reflecting back

On those good times our family had

Reminisce those times that might stand out

Remembering the good times helps no doubt

Rockaway Beach, Dead horse Creek, camping trips

Rocky Raccoon, Cricket and Spots old floppy lips

Road trips through Redwood trees, tunnels with the threat of bees

Rivers that wind through trees, the air, ferns, moss and breeze

Life would change out of the gate

Armadillos and the Lone Star state

Time held back in old hick towns

Elgin Texas, ups and downs

Time has passed, present day

Life keeps moving on

Stay in the moment you treasure most

And live to see another one.

Those memories never leave us, and when parents can commit to each other despite the troubles of life, these sweet nuggets of gold mature like good red wine.

My parents are also married for 50 odd years and although their marriage may not necessarily always be a shining example of what a marriage should be like, they get the gold medal for getting through life on the other side together.......great writing!
