Bit of reality

Bit of reality

A Chapter by Dani The Unreviewed
"

I don't really care what others think bout this one. Here's the undeniable truth.

"
Since a hundred years,
Blood mixed with tears...
My nationality,
My homeland,
The world tried to tear it apart,
Millions, live like minions,
Ironic...
We're hated,
Mistreated,
In our own home!
Our own land.
But the world says it's Romania,
I say it's still Transylvania, and it's part of my homeland,
Just like before 1920.
They say it's Serbia,
I say it's a piece of Hungary,
Given to wild animals.
They say it's Slovakia,
I say it's a part of my homeland,
In the hands of our foes.
They say it's Ukraine,
But it's not.
They say there's a list,
Of the countries we're neighbors with.
I say, todays Hungary is neighboring the original Hungary,
Three seas were the borders.

They claim we went there in 1956, running from the Soviets,
But they don't know,
No Hungarian abandoned his homeland, not in the times when Europe was bleeding from the Ottoman armies, not in the 1848 revolution, not in the world wars, never in history. We stood, and fought. Everyone else ditched us, we were on our own.
Our families live there since more than a millennia, we defended Europe from the oppression of the Ottoman, Europe let us down, and so the enemy gained strength, and remained two centuries here.

They beat my brothers and sisters,
Because they are Hungarian,
They hate us, for we are home,
And not afraid of saying the truth,
Not afraid of speaking our own language,
Not afraid of knowing our history,
Not afraid of their primitive hatred,
Not afraid of the oppression of the others.

Although the map says we're apart,
Our blood is the same,
Our language is the same,
Our hearts beat in the same hopes,
Under a Hungarian sky,
On the land of our ancestors.
We stand defiant,
Together, as one.

The world says "move on, forgive and move on."
No!
I had enough,
We all had enough,
No Hungarian will, or can forgiver, or forget 1920.
Never. I will not forgive, I will never forget.
We will never forgive, we will never forget.
The injustice cannot be forgiven,
Cannot be forgotten.

I do not hate other nations,
I'm just proud of my own,
And hate all, who hate me, or my homeland, or my nation.
There is no reason for them to hate us, it's not their home that was divided, not their nation under attack of hatred.

Dear reader, no matter how firmly you believe in knowing the weight of my words, you do not. You will never understand, unless your home goes through injustice like mine did in 1920, and until your nation lives the oppression, like mine did, and breaks free like mine did.
Therefore, don't judge my love for my homeland, and my brothers and sisters, beyond the borders.

The homeland above all!

This is an awesome write... not only was it detailed but it was loaded with historical facts that I was unaware of. I love the message, you aren't full of hatred for the other countries... you are simply proud of your homeland and who you are. Very honest and passionate write. Loved it!

I like how you used actual historical facts to back up your beliefs. And this part is my favorite:
"I do not hate other nations,
I'm just proud of my own,
And hate all, who hate me, or my homeland, or my nation.
There is no reason for them to hate us, it's not their home that was divided, not their nation under attack of hatred"
This something many people outside of he place you've been in cannot understand and they will judge without even thinking. Great poem my friend!

and many did already. thank you :)
Rozsda ette penge, falra kiszegezve,
Dicső múltunk hol vagy, hol vagy eltemetve?
Kiásunk a sirból kopott büszkeségünk,
Gyalázott zászlaink, megcsonkitott népünk!
Vérző tiz körmünkkel kaparjuk a földet,
Ezen nehéz órán Istenünk segits meg!
Segits meg Istenünk fogytán már erejünk,
Kezedben van sorsunk, mutass jelet nekünk!
Most hóförgeteg támad szép magyar Kárpátnak,
Jaj, be keserű, jaj, be szép most Magyarnak lenni!

This is chilling. Such a powerful, haunting way to take a firm and proud stand against injustice. You're absolutely right: "No matter how firmly you believe in knowing the weight of my words, you do not." Only the one going through it, will ever really understand. Hail Homeland! A beautiful read. Thanks for sharing, Danny.

I know. Me too.
Dear Danny,
Honestly, I didn't know the history of Hungary and to get the background of your writing I googled it. Of what little I understood about the subject, its a grave injustice that snatched your motherland from its origin. Tragic, for it landed you nowhere.
Is my little endeavor in understanding your history is in right direction, at the very least?

And your poem is so direct! Voiced with integrity and candour like a proclamation of independence! Brave and strong write.
Loved it!

Welcome :)
I'm very impressed with this one. It's brought out the inner patriot in you . A child of Hungary you are and a proud one .A world filled with war...so many mistakes in the past and these mistakes still haunt us. I have no right to judge and hence I won't. But hate shall always beget hate.if we are to move forward then do so with love. When I this I don't mean that you should not fight. Fight for your country, show to the world its greatness. Make her proud. But by doing so add more love into it. For if you are anybody today then it is thanks to your motherland. Always be proud of that. I know that many have suffered in the , killed because of their nationality. My country went through a lot as well. Mine was raped, pillaged and enslaved for 200 years...
But that is in the past. We have moved forward from that time, grown anew. The same pride of my nationality flows through my veins.
An inspiring write my friend.
