I Know

Just something I wrote about people who are down, depressed, or lonely.

I know that you’re waiting for the strength to smile,
I know that you have been waiting for a long while,
I know that you no longer know who you are,
But please don’t give up because you’ve come so far,
I know there’s something inside which you don’t realize,
I know there’s willpower but it’s hidden behind your disguise,
I know you’ll overcome whatever life throws at you,
Believe all of these words because they are true.

I know that you’re struggling to find your way,
I know that you’re hurting every single day,
I know that your smiles are all deceiving,
But love is what I want you to believe in,
Cause I know that you’re walking through life all alone,
I know that you’re feeling like you’re on your own,
I know that you believe all of this is true,
So here’s a few words I want to say to you:

Baby girl, are you terrified?
Come tell ‘bout the nights when you’d cry,
So I can help you through everything,
To give you strength to shout and sing,
And smile at the haters as they walk on by...
Showing them you’re not strong enough not to cry,
Cause I remember you said you wanted your scars to heal...
Because your reality no longer feels real,
But remember that hose who say ‘go and pick up that knife’,
Are less than the people that you need in your life,
So put down the blades and look into the mirror,
Then look down at your scars and you’ll see clearer,
That they are not marks. No, they are part of you,
But don’t be upset because they’re beautiful,
The night is darkest just before the dawn,
The dawn now rises and you are not alone.
