To Go Back

Someone from my past that I wish would have never left

If I could, I would go back to when it was just you and me.

Nothing else but the two of us, living and loving life.

 

I wish there was a way to do that… go back in time.

Fix all the wrong and make it right again.

I wish you would have seen back then what you see now.

We could have been something great, but it is too late.

I’m not sure what to do, or what to think.

I just wish I could undo everything that was done

In the end, I don’t understand why it had to happen

I don’t understand why it had to end the way it did.

There was no real reason for it, just a big mistake.

I wish we could fix things now, but we can’t.

It pains me to even think about that night when it all went so wrong.

I know you’ll never ever read this or ever hear these words from me

But it needs said.

 

I would give anything to go back to that day

Where you held me for the first time

You wiped away my tears

You gave me a reason to smile and laugh

And you took away all my fears

You kissed me gently on the lips and promised me…

You would never leave me, no never

But now it’s all gone and part of you will be with me forever

I just wish it was all of you with me, not just part.

 

Cause if I could, I would go back to when it was just you and me

Nothing else but the two of us, living and loving life.

I can feel deep emotions put into this one. like a letter to a past love, to yesteryear. you clearly freed you feelings by writing this sentimental piece. sometimes we just have to let our feelings go, release them from our mind and write them down, share them with other people...

Looking back, I've found, leaves me empty mostly. You have very deep regrets through this moment in time you've wrote about. Memories are just that.. memories we wish to change or not have. You can feel that you wish differently then this outcome as it happened. I'm just feeling the sadness and pain you've expressed in this poem. (literally feel sad and hollow in my chest) I want to put my head in my hands, cover my ears, say, "I'm sorry" till my voice cracks while rocking back and forth till the images and spoken words become faded and muffled. A wish most of us have. To be able to go back in time and this time be kinder and wiser with our love. I like the story and the wish. Two people with the same wish can find the good path again. Need to find the reasons and the hope that brought two people together again. A strong ending to a excellent poem.
