Blessings Ahead

Blessings Ahead

A Poem by David P. Eckert
"

Can tell by the title, perhaps light is winning out over darkness.

"

Blessings Ahead

The evening falls

As if the fading light

Might grant soft shade

To seekers of right

And not fair license

To creatures of night

Lying in wait

Blind to our sight.

As darkness calls

Its silent siren cry

we huddle up close

and stifle our sodden sigh

wishing for time

to grow wings and fly

into the night

soaring through indigo sky

Till dawn stretches

Fire orange and red

Laid out before us

Like a promise to wed

If we can but reach

past the night in our head

reach out till morning

and blessings ahead.
