Ukraine MIssile

A Poem by David P. Eckert
"

In memory of those who lost their lives when shot down by a missile over Ukraine.

"

Ukraine Missile

Frozen

Time as cold as air

At thirty-six thousand feet

Frozen men stare

Their launched missile

Yellow white streak

Cannot be called back

Are they proud

To transform the jet

Straying close

Into body parts

And air flotsam?

Civilians asleep

Watching films or reading

Unaware

Their chapter’s ending

The falling

A prayer for unconsciousness

Time frozen forever

Before Earth rises

To take them home.
