Hey, Charlotte

Hey, Charlotte

A Poem by devon

There's a place in the forest,
Just beyond the tallest oak tree,
A path that you can take,
It'll lead you to my special place.
And there you'll find me,
Sprawled out under the stars.
My back is to the world,
I'm ready to fall apart.

So, come and take a seat,
Sit out on the turf.
We can hold hands like lovers,
Laugh like something's funny.
Waste the night away,
Entwined in the dirt.
And as the sky fades to pink,
We'll forget all our hurt.

Charlotte spin a web above us,
Tell us all a tale,
About about a boy and a girl
And how so much in love they fell.

And Charlotte, weave your words
Into some fairy tale fable
With two kids lost in this world,
Learning all that love is able.

Hey, Charlotte,
What's that story
About that boy and girl?
Did they get their happy ending?
Or were they sorry they fell?
Oh, Charlotte tell us.
Charlotte, how'd that story go, again?
Oh, Charlotte tell us.

Whisper sweet nothings,
Into my ear tonight.
Watch the moonlight on
Our bodies, laying side by side.
And when I say I'm tired,
Would you wake me with a kiss?
And if I cry about my past,
Your future would you give?

Listen to the wind blow
How it rustles the leaves,
Making soft music,
So we can move our feet.
Dancing in circles,
On Mother Nature's floor,
I give you my heart,
Yours to explore.

Charlotte spin a web above us,
Tell us all a tale,
About about a boy and girl
And how so much in love they fell.

And Charlotte, weave your words
Into some fairy tale fable
With two kids lost in this world,
Learning all that love is able.

Hey, Charlotte,
What's that story
About that boy and girl?
Did they get their happy ending?
Or were they sorry they fell?
Oh, Charlotte tell us.
Charlotte, how'd that story go?

But Charlotte, I think I know.
Charlotte,
Oh, Charlotte,
I think I know
How that story goes.

This is a lovely read that felt so sincere. The way you used imagery most certainly built a romantic element into the piece and the refrain was a nice touch to add.

Overall, not a bad read in the slightest though in places, the pleading to know how 'that story goes' could get a little too repetitious but that may just be me. If you like it how it is, leave it as it is!

Very well penned! It had a unique theme and very nice imagery. I definitely read it to one of the many melodies floating around in my head.
