Cries In The Night

Cries In The Night

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

With the morning sunrise

brings morning delights

as the new day dawns

with rays of smiles

and beams of laughter

warming up the soul.

Highnoon burns away

all the sorrows of yesterday

leaving no trace

of the heart’s wounds

that are too often reopened

By the simplest blow.

As evening approaches

and darkness chases away

all remains that daylight gave

creatures of the mind

come out to feast

on the matters of the heart.

Then in the witching hour

when hope can’t be seen

through the darkness

this is the prayer I say

every night before bed

“As I lay me down to sleep

I pray the lord the sun to keep

letting laughter sing so bright

drowning out the cries in the night.”

Firstly, YAY! This is wonderful and double YAY for the no capitalisation to allow each thought to continue! And just a little ooh at the typo line 5, stanza 2 (to, too). Your ability to emote is in leaps and bounds at the moment, Cowboy. High five to you. :)

This poem is uplifting. I feel like this at night and say my prayers to help with my own personal issues and that of others. I love the whole last stanza. I think I am going to start borrowing your prayer for the night. If you don't mind. I think this is a truly great way to pray. I know there have been many times in my life when I have needed to say a prayer like this. the flow of this poem is great and the wording is amazing. glad I picked this one to read.

This piece is so captivating. I'm drawn in to the story from the first line. It's like a painting coming to life through an array of various scenes, as the narrative unfolds. As I was reading this, it was if I was seeing a map unfolding piece by piece until it fully opened up like a quilt, only it was with moving pictures within the landscapes of my mind.

Nighttime when everything that haunts us comes out and all our fears are magnified. The time when lonliness is at it height. Keep just a ray of sun to stave off the night and the unwelcomed "visitors" it brings. Great work as usual from your magic pen.

I love this one! It's when the darkness falls and all is quiet that we are left alone with our thoughts and imagination. I love that you talked about the witching hour, alot of paranormal investigators still use this phrase. I am 33 years old and I still sleep with the tv or night light on!! Great writing cowboy, keepem comin!

this was very interesting, how the night became the bitter time,, I like
to see the night as the start of a new begining, as daylight approaches; around
the corner, I really like this it shows off how people have different prospectives.
