Tattoos And Scars

Tattoos And Scars

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Tattoos and scars

I got’em both

And though they are

Both permanent

And hurt in the beginning

That’s as far as it goes.

For one is volunteer

The other not so much.

One are reminders

Of the great things

I’ll never forget

The other are results

Of things I wish

Never happened.

Not visible to the eye

Are the tattoos and scars

Imprinted on my heart.

Much like the ones

That can be seen

The scars I could do without

But the tattoos keep me going

Though both make up the man

That stands before you now.

Those tattoos and scars

Are like pleasure and pain

And that will never change.

Tattoos, and scars . . . hmmm . . . this could be a song. Seriously.

I love how you compare the two. One out of choice, the other, sadly, not. But both do make up who we are, and by transforming the pain into a lesson of learning, rather than hurting, forever, then all was not lost.

Amazing write, from an amazing poet.

I think both tattoos and scars are maps and roadways to the individual. I know my scars tell one hell of a story, and my tattoos...while they look silly or whatever to the indifferent eye, they too make up the whole that is me.
Never regret what brought you to this place.

Truth be told- we volunteer for both. By choosing to open up the ole heart, we are inviting in not only the good, but the bad. I love poetry that blends life and rhyme and most of what I have read by you does it wonderfully. I will always choose open- and it appears you do as well. Thanks for the fine work, Rob

Ahh nice...i have 2 tatoos and numerous amounts of scars that to the point where I can't even begin to count...i can see your comparison between them both very well and how they are also compared to your emotions...i thought it was pretty neat how you compared them all to drive a point across that you can't rid of some things, you can only learn from them...

its sensitive and its pretty deep by my standards =) and you really don't see that out of men

Such wonderful creativity in this poem. The comparisons between a tattoo and scar are tied together very nicely. Bravo for a job well done.

I loved hearing you read this piece live as it held so much more importance to hearing you read your own words. Glad you came on the show it was a great pleasure having you there. I always find such wonderful inspiration from you and your words my friend.

Great Job!!!!!
