Twisted Mask (Thoughts Of A True Madman)

Twisted Mask (Thoughts Of A True Madman)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Inspired by my favorite book Phantom Of The Opera.

"

These catwalks have become

A sanctuary for my shadow

To roam free from torment

As I keep a steady eye

On the unsuspecting characters

In my twisted play.

How can those pitiful fools

Believe they own the stage

When it is I,

With my own sweat and blood

That made this place

What it is

What I want it to be.

Soon they will learn

Or it will be

Their blood

That will become

My lifeline.

The night is my only friend

For it is when my music

Takes flight

Blissfully echoing

Through the corridors

Sung by my greatest creation…

Christine… the one who will love me forever

Because she owes me…

As do the rest of these ungrateful fools.

Wait who is this insolent boy

Who courts my lady’s affections

Oh when will they learn

That to betray me

Means the hangman’s noose.

This cannot be…

How can she be?

It isn’t possible.

Her love belongs to

ME!!

This will never happen

For I won’t let it be…

If he wants her so bad

And she desires him

Then the choice is clear.

If I can't capture her heart

Then I must steal her…

Oh and let her charming hero

Come after her and he’ll be the martyr

In my torture chamber.

Someday they will learn

Yes someday they will see…

That this is my world

They are living in

And if they refuse to bow to my religion

Then they can burn in my hell.

Consider me nothing more than

A Phantom…

When in reality I am

The GOD of this Opera House.

The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
This is inspired by my favorite book Phantom Of The Opera... it takes a look through the eyes of the phantom as I see it. I hope you enjoy my interpretation.

So brilliantly put together CB. Phantom is my absolute favourite.. Saw it at the theatre in London...then Edinburgh....Gave me goosebumps from the beginning to end.

AWESOME!

I really like the whole piece. I think you captured the mind of the phantom perfectly.

WOW! This was....There are no words...It always amazes me how you get so into character when writing about something... i think we all have to learn to do that sooner or later.

This was a powerful piece. I could see the Phantom standing there declaring all this while he talked. I could see him changing expression, emotion, the power, the jealousy, the wrath. I saw it all..

I HOPE you realise how damn gifted you are!!! lol.

I also can see this being a monologue. ... just a thought.

Anyway...GREAT GREAT WRITE!

Nicely written! I love the "Phantom" too, and I think that you've captured a side of the tale that is sometimes brushed over a little too much in favor of being romantic and tragic. I can see the "madman" walking the catwalk and watching all of the players below him, having his thoughts, seathing...nicely done!

This is really good. It makes me think of the movie that came out a few years ago. I really like this. I can just see him in my mind saying these lines. Great job!

I thought this was about Phantom of the Opera. You captured the
story very eloquently here in this poem.

Dale, your pen slips inside the mind of a man, whom time has discarded and forgotten about. Creating the right tension in your stanza, to express it. Sad, how one person's obsession, can drive them, insane. Thank you for sharing with your interpretation of this story.

Oahh! This really makes me want to read Phantom Of The Opera.. It was really mysterous and powerful.. the one stanza that caught my attention the most was:

"The night is my only friend

For it is when my music

Takes flight

Blissfully echoing

Through the corridors

Sung by my greatest creation"

--I am speechless, this was beautiful to me.

ooooh I can hear the music in this one... you have brought me back in time to the theater where I saw the phantom of the opera for the first time. God I loved the passion in the story! It was amazing. I wish I could write with such a conviction. Excellent job!
