Matters Of The Heart

Matters Of The Heart

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

When you ask the question

"

Should I stay or should I go?

Seems to be a simple question

Except when it come to

Matters of the heart.

With so many emotions

Flowing in and out

It can be so easy

To get them crossed

Or even lost amongst

Many vein decisions.

Love is much like the heart

Which is why I believe

They are connected.

For on the surface can seem

To function on simple principles

But the complexities are endless.

Both need constant care and work

In order to keep them strong and healthy.

If you neglect them

They can grow weak and soon flat line

And when abused over and over

A reason to continue

Ends up in the emergency room.

So when it comes to the matters of the heart

In the ways of love

And you ask yourself

Should I stay or should I go

Then ask yourself another question,

Are the 911’s of the relationship

Merely occasional palpitations

Or constant heart attacks?

You speak the truth here... Love is probably the biggest mystery of the human condition...if one could create a cure for "lovesickness", I believe it would be more valuable than a cure for cancer! LOL I like what you had to say here, the flow of the piece was nice, subtle. There were a few little spelling and grammer mistakes, but other than that, it was very nice.

This is so true, it is hard when it comes to the matters of the heart.
Your last stanza answers the question very well.
Should I stay or should I go
Then ask yourself another question,
Are the 911’s of the relationship
Merely occasional palpitations
Or constant heart attacks?

Much wisdom spoken here.I've always said love is like tending a garden, keep it well watered, fertilized and nutured or weeds will grow and take over the beauty

oook... wow.. this is a deep thought out thinker!! lol,, yes I know this very well. it's so hard when
you have so many yes's and many no's bu then there are let's do it again, and maybe not so's
lol,, i really did not mean that to rhyme... but I get it... life is tough... but be who you are..
with that said... everything else will be simple....

This is sooo true.. I relate and have asked the same questions recently and it is more complex than anyone could ever realize this hits me:

Love is much like the heart

Which is why I believe

They are connected.

For on the surface can seem

To function on simple principles

But the complexities are endless.

Both need constant care and work

In order to keep them strong and healthy.

If you neglect them

They can grow weak and soon flat line

Another aspect is we grow comfortable over time and then it is not until we lose love that we realize just how much we loved someone.. but in my case my relationship is actually hurting me financially making it hard to care for health factors and just in everyday living.. it's hard to decide! Thank you for sharing!

i REALLY think I am becoming more of a fan of your work every day. I just read another great poem from you, and I like this one even more! going in my favorites. any poem dealing with the heart is a good one. i talk about the heart a lot in my poetry, it's such a great thing to talk about. because the heart is the center of the body, it supplies blood to all parts of our body. without it we can't survive, and sometimes love can feel the same way! applause! this is an amazing piece of poetry.

Very interesting analogy of relationships to the life and death matters of the heart (organ).
In regards to what you put - "many vein decisions" I don't know if you intentionally wrote that. Normally it would be "vain" but in light of the analogy to the physical body "vein" is quite appropriate. :) If it was intentional then very clever - if not then very clever mistake!

Many vein decisions.------ I was just wondering if the spelling in vein was a mistake, or a pun? Should it say Many vane decisions??

The writing inself poses a good question and a very good answer. Good work as always hun. XX
