Heartland

Heartland

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Upon the azure stage

Floats every open minded imagination

Designing heaven's floor; allowing

Comforting thoughts of loved ones

To rest on airy pillows of tears.

These are not the wet sorrow kind; contrary:

Salty droplets of nourishment that replenish

The soul of the earth; therefore

Nurturing the lifeline of every

Daydreamer, nightwalker and child of the grave

Giving us all that one bond; there by

Keeping something to believe in

         Beating in the heartland.

No matter what the day or season .. we can always look to nature to provide us with such inspiration which you have done brilliantly here. The feel of the heavens opening up and cleansing our spirits with such nourishment is so nice. I loved the essence and meaning behind this piece.. going to my favorites!

Such a beautiful feel to this cleansing poem... Your words lift us into something that is greater than we are... connecting us to that deeper faith and life we so often miss. So wonderfully expressed!

Lovely as you say it aloud. The believe and beating in the last lines really flow it to a natural end. 'Salty droplets of nourishment that replenish the soul of the earth'... fantastic line. In the third, 'heavens' should have an apostrophe but aside from that, even though the line breaks are not conventionally placed, the capitals at the beginning of each line give it an authority. Lovely stuff.

I love the use of the word "azure" in the first line...really sets the stage. I love the imagery here. Nicely done!
