That Child’s smile

Crushed on concrete

Adolescent life flowing

From mouth to gutter

Once youthful dreams

Now shattered pieces

 

When you look to the sky

Asking just why

Remember…

 

The Devil likes to play

In his own way

Feeding on hate

Tainting weak souls

To make his own

Pitchfork schemes

To kill spirits being

Cause the devil likes

To play his games too

 

A bedtime story

Of innocence stolen

Like candy from a baby

All in the name of

A father’s twisted pride

Locking her up inside

 

Looking for answers

A mother kneels to pray

Forgetting…

 

The devil likes to play

With a twist of cane

Tempting lost fate

Grabbing pure souls

To make his own

Letting terror reign

In a perfect world

Where the devil decides

To play his games too

 

Searching for reasons

For the worlds pain

Bow your head and pray

To see the devil’s playground

Are our eyes open and do we ask questions? Is evil real? Does sin exist? Your poem is quite a list within poetic form. Quite a song it must be!

While reading your poem, I have made some lines in my mind which then I made into verses. Here they are:

When you hear the devil singing
Would you still listen to his voice?
If the words are like inspiring
Don't make mistake in making your choice.

When he show you a very nice image
Would you stare at it that long?
A smile is different from grimace
Would you distinguish what's right from wrong?

The devil always wanted to play
And his victims are his toys
It's up to you if you will stay
And will listen to his noise...

It's Sunday here now and I am reflecting on something. This piece is something relevant for reflection. The devils ways are confusing, but faith will always lead us to good choices...

and with all that sadness shared...it is like how one breaks up with a significant other and is going through the pain, then hears a tragic love song on the radio...and instead of feeling worse, the person feels better knowing someone else has experienced the same...we poets share the tragedy, devastation but also the love...

without pain there would be no joy and vice versa, i guess.

Yes, he does like to 'play'.. Great lyrics.. many songs by the newer metal bands glorify the devil .. sick lyrics they are.
Seems so many times we only pray when we are in trouble.. it should be daily.. I won;t make this religious I am not a fan of the devil so I am going on and on lol
