Accelerate

I go up, up, up and away

So I can be the wind that makes

The willow trees sway.

I will not stop nor slow down

For I know the law of gravity

Wants to sentence me to the ground.

Hear the whistling get louder

As I begin to reach my goal of making

The speed of sound even prouder

Than I made the speed of light

When I raced the man in the moon

To the edge of midnight.

This is one of the best poems of yours I've ever read. This is really fun & graceful & meaningful. I personally HATE the blustery wind we've been having lately, but I admire someone who can make it sound like a way we want to go! When I first started at the cafe, almost 4 years ago, I remember your poetry as being super serious . . . you were usually making an important point about life in a serious way. To me, this migration toward being more fun & lighthearted is something I really enjoy watching as it develops more & more in your writing -- but still making your meaningful points about life!
