Hell Comes Home

Hell Comes Home

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Be careful what you wish for cause the devil may be listening

"

Buildings set a blaze

and houses burn in shame

as a city crumbles

from one man’s mistakes.

To deal with the devil

always comes a price

people running for cover

with nowhere to hide.

Years it took to build

but within minutes

all the history has become

nothing but soot and ash.

Thought he was right

letting his heart guide

but now the soul is gone

with a million lives.

So welcome to the new city

built with the finest brimstone

from the deepest part of the mind

of a lonely, brilliant fool.

Had me set back in a western town, really liked this one. Gave a full depth story with minimal words... my favorite kind.

Well thank you for that delightful review.

The biblical phrase, "As a man thinks in his heart so is he," comes to mind as I read your above poem. Another is, "A man shall reap what he sows." Our really are a depiction of what is brewing within our inner world. What do we think about, dwell on, imagine. It all has to materialize in our actions and decisions eventually.
Good Work!

Great descriptions, I could imagine the scene as I read it. Sometimes getting what you want isn't what you really wanted after all. I like this one a lot too!

Wonderful descriptions. Reminds me a bit of Sept. 11th. How with different decisions we may have been able to stop it all. But the messag here is an important one. Actions have concequences and you must be ready to deal with them becaue they will always find you. Great write.

I love the harsh metaphor of the fiery destruction. I also think that almost everyone can relate to this at some point in his/her life.
