A Raven Of Hope

A Raven Of Hope

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Misfit shadows lay alone

In shallow graves

Awaiting …

Wanting …

Needing …

Someone to bring life

To their paper-thin emotions.

The fog rolls in

In the nick of time

To make the illusion

Of happiness…

Support…

And love…

Of their faceless souls

That mirror depression.

Finally relief arrives

In the form of the undertaker

Not what they asked for

But what they received

Unusual light…

Flickering flame...

Hidden emotions…

As the dirt begins

To seal their fate.

A last comes the raven

In the knick of time

Whisking them away

On the wings of forever

Towards a blue sky.

This took my breath away...
I am awed at the voice you speak in for this piece.
This is an awesome well worded write.
The fog rolls in
In the nick of time
To make the illusion
Of happiness
Support
And love
Of their faceless souls
That mirror depression.
~~~~~I have to read more from you.
This spoke volumes...loudly.
This also speaks sadly for my three friends(not at the same time)
that thought nobody heard them(those paper thin emotions)...
they took their lives thinking that
life would be better for them
when the raven whisked them away into the
blues forever. From now on when I see the RAVENS
I will think of them and you.
I can relate to this. I love the last stanza... I would have to say the Rock n Roll Cowboy is back in the saddle and has his trusted pen ready to write... and write beautifully as he finds his way back..
This is so cool. I loved it! Such an interesting view of death. Depressing and hopeless until the very end where the raven swoops in for a new beginning. Fantastic!
I love the eerie feel throughout the poem, and the image of these shadow-figures that are like paper dolls. And then the ending is so uplifting. It seemed so different to have the raven be this savior when it's usually such an ominous omen.
Ah yeah...I get it.
Political undertones....grandly hidden.
I'm afraid they threaten to trivialize the poem...just my less than humble opinion.
On the wings of forever
Towards a blue sky.- Wow! this is so good. This line really left me still for a moment. This poem is really very well versed. So modern and straight but powerfull too.
I've been real near here lately. Called home a few weeks ago to help a friend bury her sister. I hope the lost girl's soul was reprieved by your Raven. I hope. . .
great piece - i enjoyed reading it
one little thing though - last paragraph - first sentence -
"A last comes the raven"
i think you meant 'at last comes the raven'
but not sure...
The next time I see a raven, I will look at it differently and bearing the soul in mind, being carried into new life, may be into reincarnation?
This is a vision of death and life thereafter, it did end on an uplifting note and I think that's my favorite part :) always remember that :)
