Red Snow

Red Snow

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

The darker side of the holiday season

"

Tragic night

Unholy night

As he lies face down

In the snow.

Stab not once

but twice

for the almighty dollar.

Losing his life

For the game

Where money is the prize.

It’s not all

Just a holly jolly season

For it has a darker side

For those trying

To keep up

With the riches of life.

        Now the red snow

Becomes his Santa coat

And the family

Cries tears of coal

For this will be

A very black Christmas

Cause some dreary soul

Forgot the true meaning

Mistaking Santa for Satan.

I think of how many people are suffering this year with lack of work or poverty...I hope no one would go this far for food. For those living in poverty this is the worst season of all as they get to watch others buying and enjoying their wealth...seems to me that christmas is a celebration of consumerism...what is the true meaning of christmas? I've forgotten, or maybe I never knew. I enjoyed your poem.

I am enjoying your creativity. There is always some mean spirited person to mess up christmas. Don't let any little kids read this one.

whoa - red stands for the bleeding greed lurking subtly in those giving to receive objects, instant gratification and objectifying ourselves and others...wow - intense read Dale!

You always amaze with your versatility. The truth in this poem you write of Christmas, the commercialism, greed and all the bruhaha is so true for this holiday, that I learned to dread its coming. The last line:
"Forgot the true meaning Mistaking Santa for Satan" is powerful and true

This is truly a sad tale but unfortunately things like this happen all the time. I live in a smaller town so don't hear this kind of tale often unless it is on the news.

OMG, wow, this is a very deep, dark piece, but it is the other side of the coin. A phenomenal piece of writing.

Dark and emotional piece very descriptive with great use of imagery and the sad truth that through commercialism and the fact of the ugly crimes some commit against others it can and may be a sad time for some...also the loss of a loved one be it a natural death or not at this time of year! Thanx for sharing this well written piece.

I love the different layers of meaning in this one. The red coat of commercialism rises again...only to take more lives and lively hoods with it. Excellent write!
