Cut Throat Education

Cut Throat Education

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Fresh blood dripping

From glistening wolf fangs

Is the wisdom

Of a thousand generations

Yet remains a secret

Of an unopened book.

The copyright philosophy

Saturates the knowledge

Till all meaning

Is watered down

And education drowns

Freedom of speech.

So the myth lives on

In the heart of the masses

It is easier to believe

Than learning

What really hunts the mind

And devours the heart.

This poem speaks volumes about "us" as a society. Intelligence is a great power to have and so is freedom of speech but you are right. Do we really truly still have freedom of speech or is it just a fictional tale that we believe we still have fully. This is an eye opening thought provoking poem .

Really awesome poem. I love that "cutthroat philosophy". This is good enough to win a Writers Cafe Emmy. Seriously. Good job

A great write... how we learn from life is not from a book but through our experiences, and yet we are forced to memorize bookish knowledge, and not true knowledge...

This is really good. One thing i took from this:
"For it is easier to believe
Than learning
What really hunts the mind
And devours the heart." is that people are scared of the truth. They'd rather believe things rather than learn them theirselves. Thats very true.
Back to the education part though, yes. Thats also true. We believe what teachers teach us, and most students dont go out of their way to learn things themselves.

To me, this poem shows how people edit out the pieces of reality that they don't want to face and/or let others know about. Our history books are full of lies and falsehoods that we teach our students. In a way, I think we brainwash our students to believe what the government wants them to believe.

As a teacher, I fight against that ... daily teaching these kids the different sides of a story, developing lessons in multiple perspectives, and doing my best with my limited knowledge to fill in the gigantic gaps.

Really intersting subject. My favorite line "education drowns
Freedom of speech." Great write, Dale.

A really sudden and stabbing ending, although still deeply resonant for me. I enjoyed the flow of words and the honest felt through them. Also loved the eye-catching title which demands attention.

Great Write ;)

Beautifully done. The imagery that you create is clear and sharp. It's so honest and true. Education is no longer sacred, its determined by test scores and what authority deems good enough for us to learn. Another beautiful masterpiece :)

I read this over a couple times trying to grasp the true meaning of it all. It's as if we don't think for ourselves instead we are told what to think. It reminds me a lot of my philosophy class we spend the entire class discussing this exact topic. This poem really gets you thinking and love that.

we should seek our own truths, intelligent write, great topic,-perhaps it would end the jingobitterness between east and west, those tampering history, playing with our minds,we puppets to those knowing only taste of blood, knowledge is light if possessed by a saint and scorches if in wrong hands, let us be our own Buddha,
